Key News Overnight:
Spot gold rose 0.8% to US$1,946/oz, shaking off initial declines. U.S. gold futures settled up 0.6% at US$1,955/oz.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.6%, the S&P 500 gained 2% and the Nasdaq Composite added 293.87 points, or 2.7%. It sets up the ASX for a strong start, with futures at 6.05am AEST pointing to a gain of 77 points, or 1.3%, at the open.
