Key News Overnight:
The S&P500 has touched new record levels, while certain European benchmarks have achieved the same. Asian indices, especially the Hang Seng and Nikkei, have also outperformed, modestly helped yesterday by China’s better than expected monthly data “dump”.
The U.S. wants to soon start work on an agreement with the U.K., President Trump’s top economic adviser said. Larry Kudlow also added that any phase two U.S.-China deal will depend in part on the success of the agreement already reached.
The U.K. government plans to introduce its Brexit Bill to Parliament Dec. 20. The government is seeking a Canada-US-style free-trade deal and will need to secure the Speaker’s backing before it can confirm the Brexit Bill will have a second reading and be put to a vote on the same day.
An oil tanker was attacked Sunday in West Africa’s Gulf of Guinea and most of its crew were kidnapped, according to vessel owner Union Maritime. Acts of piracy on shipping in the region have steadily increased in recent weeks.
