Key News Overnight:
Spot gold closed up 0.1% at US$1,987/oz, after hitting its highest since August 19 at US$1,985/oz earlier in the session. U.S. gold futures rose 0.6% to US$1,990/oz.
Brent crude futures gained 30 US cents, or 1.1%, to settle at US$45.79bbl, while West Texas Intermediate crude futures settled 15 US cents, or 0.4%, higher at US$42.76bbl.
