Key News Overnight:
Spot gold was down 0.5% to US$1,872/oz. U.S. gold futures settled down 0.6% at $1,873.90.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 345 points, or 1.2%, to 29,438, the S&P 500 lost 42 points, or 1.2%, to 3,568 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 98 points, or 0.8%, to 11,802.
