    Key News Overnight:

President Donald Trump trails at least three Democratic hopefuls – Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren – in theoretical head-to-head matchups for the 2020 general election, a new poll showed. Biden held the biggest lead.

Central bankers readying to fight another economic downturn. Fed Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and ECB President Mario Draghi stand ready alongside many of their counterparts to cut interest rates to bolster the weakest growth in a decade.

The Australian share market is tipped to start the week trading lower despite Wall Street reaching a fresh record on Friday. All three major indices on Wall Street broke records on Friday, with the S&P 500 ending above 30000 for the first time.

With signs of a global economic slowdown weighing on the outlook for copper prices, hedge-fund managers aren’t taking any chances. Money managers boosted their net- bearish position on the metal.

Shoppers are balking at buying gold ornaments, as the price of the precious metal has jumped to a six-year peak in recent weeks. The high prices mean more bad news for gold demand, which was already lacklustre thanks to the US-China trade war.
