U.S. stocks extended their gains overnight as optimism over trade negotiations countered concerns stirred by Senator Marco Rubio when he announced a bill to tax buybacks on an equal footing with dividends. The Dow Jones rose 0.5% to 25,543 while the S&P 500 climbed 0.3% to 2,753;
Concerns surrounding another government shutdown have receded as President Donald Trump signalled his intentions to reluctantly accept the congressional border security deal;
Global oil prices continued their rebound overnight as dwindling shipments from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela outpaced a surge in US supply. Brent rose 2.0% to $US 63.86/bbl;
Bullish sentiment for copper is growing louder with prices expected to climb 14% due to supply constraints predicted to emerge at the end of the year. Copper rose 0.5% to $US 6,124/t
