The Government announcement today identifying the design for the Landing Craft Heavy validates Austal as the Commonwealth’s strategic shipbuilder in Henderson. If and when contracted, the value of the combined Landing Craft Medium and Heavy programs of $7-10B would provide Austal visibility from 2026 into the late 2030’s. Austal is entering a new growth phase post a difficult transition period after the LCS and EPF programs in the US. Austal looks increasingly likely to be a key part of the shipbuilding industrial base in both the US and Australia.
