Key News Overnight:
Spot gold rose 1.9% to US$1,964/oz, taking gains last week to more than 1%. Prices fell as much as 2.2% on Thursday after U.S. Treasury yields gained following Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech.
Brent crude futures for October, set to expire on Friday, closed up 0.5% to US$45.81bbl. West Texas Intermediate crude settled 7 US cents, or 0.2%, lower at US$42.97bbl.
