The S&P500 charged 2.7% higher while European stock indices also climbed, with the DAX jumping 2.9% and the FTSE100 rallying 2.6%.
The US economy contracted 4.8% last quarter, performing even worse than the 4% consensus estimate.
Reports released by drugmaker Gilead overnight that its antiviral drug remdesivir is showing signs as an effective anti-viral treatment against COVID-19 fuelled markets.
