A surge in Delta variant infections sparked a broad sell-off on Wall Street on Monday as investors feared renewed COVID-19 shutdowns and a protracted economic recovery. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 726 points, or 2.1%, to 33,962, the S&P 500 lost 69 points, or 1.6%, to 4,258 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 152 points, or 1.1%, to 14,275.
