    Key News Overnight:

The RBA meets today and is likely to leave its cash rate unchanged at 1% at the policy meeting, following back-to-back cuts in June and July, according to Bloomberg Economics.

Chinese and U.S. officials are struggling to agree on the schedule for a planned meeting this month to continue trade talks. The difficulty comes after Washington rejected Beijing’s request to delay tariffs that took effect over the weekend.

Boris Johnson will seek to trigger a snap general election on Oct. 14 if he loses a vote in Parliament this week, a senior official said. Tory rebels are helping introduce legislation that would compel the PM to delay Brexit until Jan. 31 if he’s unable to get a new deal through the House of Commons by Oct. 19 or to persuade lawmakers to back a no-deal exit.

Oil fell again Monday after its first monthly drop since May amid fears that fading global economic growth will hurt fuel demand.

Saudi Aramco has a new chairman. The kingdom removed Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih from the role and replaced him with sovereign wealth fund head Yasir Al-Rumayyan. The move is intended to avoid any conflicts of interest between the ministry and the firm as the government prepares for Aramco’s IPO.
